Healthy Foxtail Millet Khichri

Millets are rich in magnesium which is necessary for proper neuromuscular function. It also helps in normal contraction of muscles and grows the muscles in children.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp Ghee/Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 sprig Curry Leaves
  • 2 tsp Ginger paste
  • 2 tsp Cumin (coarsely ground)
  • 1 tsp Pepper (coarsely powdered)
  • 1 slit Green Chillies
  • 1 cup Foxtail Millet
  • ½ cup Moong Dal
  • 6 cups Boiled Water
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp Coconut grated optional
  • 10 pods Garlic optional

Instructions
 

  • Add ghee/oil in a pan and add the following ingredients Mustard, curry leaves, ginger, cumin seeds, pepper and green chilli in order.
  • Add washed Foxtail Millet and Moong Dal then pour the boiled water to the same pan / cooker.
  • Add salt as needed and lemon/coconut/garlic if required and cook it for 20 mins or 3 whistles.
  • If Foxtail Millet and Moong dal were soaked 5-8 mins should be sufficient.
